Roesology
A new science of the high
Roesology, pronounced Ruzology, is a new field of study with a fresh take on the Roes: the high state. It hands you the tools to reach that state yourself, without any drugs.

The project grew out of a collaboration between social designers Myrthe Krepel and Dorian Kingma (SMELT) and Daniel van den Broeke. Talking with former users, a writer, a journalist, a dealer, a psychotherapist, addiction care workers and a shaman, the team dug into what people really gain from drink and drugs, and what could be reached another way.
During the residency the team worked with performers to test the ideas in practice, through pain, improvisation, absurdism and movement. Their conclusion: the high state is reachable without any substance, and it offers a powerful way to widen your consciousness and bend reality.
Three forms of Roes
Three forms of Roes
Bind Work
The high of connection, love and empathy. It bonds you to your body, your surroundings and the people around you, for a deep sense of wholeness.
Break Work
The high of release, freedom and resistance. A break from daily life that offers escape and pure relief.
Wonder Work
The high of adventure, wonder and confusion. Reality loosens its grip and new possibilities appear.

The team ran Roesology workshops online and in person and made a small pocket guide to get you started. Explore the Roes and find out what it can do for you.
